A bit of background, Chef Tang is the one who "saved" Tan Yun back when he found the two dragons and the monkey. she holds the same position as Subing within the Immortal branch of the Huangfu sect. The sect consists of outer, inner, immortal and divine (or holy) immortal branch holds more power than inner and outer, as such Chef Tang has a higher rank than Subing she is also a princess of the Tang dynasty, her side story is related to Mengyi which will be show much much later, she will become one of Tan Yun's 17 wives much much later

Subing having been imprisoned for 6 months for failing to "cure" Chef Tang is tortured also because she refuses to submit to the sexual advances of one of the eldersTan Yun kills that elder, by crippling his cultivation, breaking his bones and ripping his arms and legs out before tossing it away and warning everyone not to retrieve it shocking and scaring everyone

Aerlis Ambrosius Yes, he asks elder De to accompany him and to "pretend" to respect him (not that he needs to pretend, since elder De already respects him) because not only does elder De holds a relatively high position within the sect but he is also a part of of the sect master's family (servant I believe). Tan Yun actually scares and shocks everyone because of the way elder De treated him, and because no one thought that someone being as arrogant and abusive as Tan Yun would be a weak individual. He later impresses everyone by showing his medical skills by saving Chef Tang, reaffirming everyone's belief that he is one of those high level cultivators that is retired and lives in a hermit life within the sect, that no one usually wants to offend

And when he reveals to subing that he is her teacher

Summary of what happens:

-He saves Chef Tang's life by showing his medical knowledge and blaming the other elder's misdiagnoses and insults their pathetic knowledge and skills including the ones in the Divine branch
-Subing is released from prison after Chef Tang recovers conscious, she then reveals she has been tortured because she refused the elder's advances, Chef Tang was already angry that Subing was being blamed and after listening to what happened she sentenced him to death
-Tan Yun kills the elder and brings Subing back but as an afterthought realising the ambition of another elder he asks Chef Tang to return with Subing so he can healer he fully, she agrees
-After returning Tan Yun makes some medicine to both and tells them he needs to seclude himself to cultivate because he was injured
-He returns to the tomb but not before killing Pang Shiyuan and then reignites his Life flame in the Hall of Life flame. He then comes out of his tomb surprising everyone
-Tan Yun enters the 108 Pagoda again
-He comes out and Shiyao comes to visit him with Gongsun Ruoxi, but someone who likes Shiyao follows them. Shiyao asks Tan Yun after the letter she sent him, to which he replied by kissing her. The guy who followed them starts badmouthing him (he is ranked 180 in the ranking list) Tan Yun then beats the crap out of him and allows everyone in the herbal garden to beat him, causing him heavy injuries that will last half a year
-Herbal garden disciples are happy they defeated that guy but also because the found out Tan Yun has a love interest with one of the 13 most beautiful women in the sect, they became even more cheerful when they find out that Mengyi is also one, this makes one of them remarking that it would be best if Tan Yun has all 13 women, which causes a panic amongst them since Subing, their chef is one of the 13 women.
-Tan Yun secretly kills elder Lu before leaving with 60,000 students to compete in the Three Ancient sect competition, but allows him to live for 5 days so people will not blame Subing during the 5 days it takes to reach another sect
-As they approach another ancient sect and Tan Yun sees one of his 12 Hongmeng swords at the entrance, he tells it he will be back for it later, and the sword goes back to sleep
-The other two sects insults Huangfu sect, saying it is in decline and have no right to attend, they set up a competition wherre Huangfu can send 3 students to compete with one each of theirs. Huangfu sects all die and before the third round begins, the sect master decides to withdraw until Tan Yun speaks up
-Tan Yun defeats and kills the first fighter, but the other sects says it doesnt count since they changed the lineup of the fighters. So Tan Yun insults them and challenges them he can fight as many as they can send up (one at a time) the second is the son of the other sect leader but he was defeated, Tan Yun negotiates for 100 years of attendance, and slowly crushes the sect leader's son's throat if he didnt agree, he finally does
-He encounters the girl at the beginning of the series Nangong Yuqing which causes his heart to feel pain

Anyway it wont be a while when Tan Yun reveals himself to Subing, in fact it was because it was her suspecting her master is Tan Yun that he revealed it

Ahhh... I was hoping that the time is near that he reveals himself.

So what he is going to use elder De for is to just accompany him and act like he is being super respectful to Tan Yun and pretend that he is a crazy powerful ancestor level elder, which elder De already thinks he is anyways.
